Secret Vermont Barns

Stowe Barn by Kathryn Rotondo on Flickr The past two episodes of my podcast take you on scenic tours around Vermont.  This week’s podcast lets you know about a special part of Vermont’s architecture that you will see along the way – barns.  They are scattered all across Vermont and they are not just for keeping cows dry and warm.  Listen to the podcast and hear Nancy Boone of the Vermont Division of Historic Preservation talk about their  Vermont Barn Census project. Burlington, Vermont’s own Soho

Chocolate fashion  I visited Burlington’ South End this weekend for the annual South End Art Hop. Each September, the South End Arts and Business Association puts together a festival of the arts which, this year, included offerings such as a local fashion show, a demonstration of clay sculpture, a paper making demonstration, a showcase of emergent digital technologies by local college students, displays from many local artists, and even a workshop on chocolate art. Read my new article on Burlington’s own Soho.

Winter Comes to Vermont

The weather has changed and Winter has certainly come to Vermont.  While just last week we had weather in the 60′s, we now have had weather in the teens and twenties for about a week.  Vermonters awoke to snow this Saturday morning – from a dusting in some places to almost a foot of snow in other places.  This means ski season has begun with many mountains opening this weekend.  Now is the time to book your winter ski vacation!
